WIS Students for Sub-Committee for HKPHI
The Hong Kong Public Health Initiative (HKPHI) is an inter-professional platform led by students of CUHK. Representatives from Hong Kong high-schools, including West Island, are recruited annually and trained to become educators and advocates for public health.
This year, five students from West Island, Matthew Wong, Kuvira Munshi, Tia Nagrani, Rachel Kan and Ethan Nicholas, have formed a sub-committee tasked with raising awareness about Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Working with medical and public health university students, the sub-committee have produced educational sessions and resources such as this student-created video, as well as an information letter sent to all parents this week.
Over the weekend, the sub-committee attended a symposium and completed the Medical Ambassador Leadership Program!
As future leaders of public health and medicine, their actions in health education and promotion will directly affect their generation and the many generations to come. They are greatly needed and their journey is far from ending!
