WIS students shine at HK Schools Speech Festival
Three WIS students – Ophelia Wong (Year 10), Elizabeth Stewart (Year 9) and Sin Ying Wun (Year 8) won accolades at the 70th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival recently.
Ophelia has been competing in the English Speech Festival since her kindergarten level and was judged the Solo Verse Speaking-Non-Open (Secondary 3-Girls) Champion in the English Speech category. Her piece was on “Creative Writing” by Gervase Phinn.
Elizabeth won the first prize in the Public Speaking Solo Class for Secondary 3 and 4 students, top-scoring with 90 marks out of a possible 100! Her performance focused on the life of William Shakespeare and the impact he has had on the English language.
Sin Ying, on the other hand, won the 2nd place in the Solo Verse Speaking – Non-Open (Secondary 1 – Girls) in the English poem category. Her piece was “Spells” by James Reeves.
