WIS Team at ISPPMUN
Over the weekend of 25-27 October, we travelled to Phnom Penh in Cambodia to take part in the ISPPMUN (International School of Phnom Pehn) Conference. We left school on 24 October and flew out to Phnom Penh.
After a nice dinner and a long day at airports, we checked in to our hotel, where we fell asleep before our heads had even hit the pillow. The next morning , we went to the S-21 prison and Killing Fields of Phnom Penh and were shocked to learn about the horrors of the Khmer Rouge Regime. Following a hard-hitting morning, we went on to the opening ceremony of the conference in the afternoon, getting to know the people who we would be arguing and debating with for the next few days. We went to our committees and started preparing the resolutions which we would be debating over the weekend.
The next morning, we returned to the competition and had a day of heated debates and tense standoffs. On the final day, all councils (with exception to the security council, who were off attempting to stop the delegate of Russia starting a war) came together in the plenary and discussed matters together. We finished the debates, had the closing ceremony and spent the afternoon resting at the hotel before we were to get on our flight.
We returned to Hong Kong late on Sunday night, feeling both exhausted and exhilarated from our wonderful weekend.
We thank our parents, fellow students and, most importantly, Mr Rudall and Ms Tang Hales for a trip we won’t forget!
