West Island School Launches WISTECH Day
On December 5, students and parents were invited to Technology Saturday at West Island School. Parents were able to work along side students and gain a better understanding of the Technology curriculum. With approaches, resources and techniques changing rapidly, it was a great chance for students and parents to pair up and understand the subject area better.
Experiences that were offered included learning to programme with the international hour of code (Computer Science), design and make a new, interesting, creating savoury bread product suitable to sell from the bakery section of Oliver’s supermarket (Food Technology), Design and make a clock using Computer Aided Design and Manufacture including 3d printing, laser cutting, metal casting and plastic forming (Product Design), and making a pendant using sublimation printing and Computer Aided Design and Manufacture embroidery techniques on textiles (Textiles Design).
Students and parents were seen working side-by-side as they worked on their chosen project and thoroughly enjoying themselves as they learned more about the subject area.
Our thanks and congratulations to the Technology team for all their effort in putting together a successful afternoon.
