Xaviera Artaza Wins Human Rights Press Award!
West Island School is extremely proud to announce that upper school student, Xaviera Artaza, won a Human Rights Press Award for her piece, ‘Disenfranchised: Education for non-Chinese-speaking children in Hong Kong‘ on Friday evening. It is important to note that it was the first time in the history of the Awards that a secondary school student won after being published in a professional publication. Xaviera was called up last after all the other student awards, out of order, and singled out for this honourable mention.
Xaviera is a winner for her Harbour Times story on the plight of non-Chinese speaking students struggling with the Hong Kong education system. Read more about it here.
We are certain we will be hearing about many more such remarkable achievements from Xaviera in the future.
Congratulations Xaviera on a fantastic achievement!
