Zero Discrimination Day Fund Raising
Thursday 1 March was Zero Discrimination Day and on this day, Amnesty International at West Island hosted a mini event at lunch time to fundraise and spread awareness.
The Zero Discrimination campaign was initially launched by UN Aids in 2013 on World Aids Day to highlight the right to be free from HIV status discrimination. But it has since been celebrated by the UN and other international organisations to promote the right of everyone to be free from all types of discrimination.
Many people still face discrimination everyday because of their race, age, gender identity etc. This year at WIS, we sold candy, popcorn and Amnesty merchandise and were able to collect about $550.
We would like to thank Ms Garlick, Mrs Craig and everyone for their support.
If you would like to support us further, please visit our stall at the School Fair on 10 March.
